AWTHS Acquisitions and Donations

Acquisitions or Donations to AWTHS

We’ve had several questions from alumni about school memorabilia donations. This is AWTHS policy as well as the acquisition chairs.

Items we do take:

School letters off the jackets. Although we have lots of these already.

Photos 8 X 10 or smaller. Identified with name and year.

Programs and awards if significant and we don’t already have a copy. We have a lot of the 1950-70 basketball programs.

Things we are not taking:

School uniforms, jackets, and clothing due to storage and displaying.

Arcanum school yearbooks.

Trophies etc. or boxes of newspaper clippings not already organized and sleeved or in a binder.

If you are uncertain please call or message Annette Stewart, acquisition chair.

All donation drop off’s need to be scheduled as well. Please do not leave items on the back porch or front door.

These policy guidelines are in place to help avoid duplicate items as well as storage and display issues. Items need to fit on a display shelf or in a binder.

Options include “on loan” displays for a designated period and subject and are by appointment. If you have a school item, those could be displayed during April’s Alumni Open Hours in April by special arrangements.

Another option is a display during Open Hours on a specific Saturday and month through special arrangement as well.

Our items (donations and displays) need to pertain to Southern Darke County history as well as families, businesses, organizations, schools within our community.

Thank you for understanding. We appreciate our donations and donors trusting AWTHS efforts to help educate and preserve history.
