Patriots Joseph Wiley and William Graham

Our two Revolutionary War Patriots are Joseph Wiley C 1766-1822 and William Graham 1764-1841.

Both have stones in Harrison Township at Providence Cemetery near Braffetsville, Ohio.

Joseph Wiley-His stone was rededicated at the cemetery

Wiley was a Soldier in the American Revolutionary War. He was
in the Virginia Militia with a rank of Private. He enlisted in 1780
thru 1781. Wiley served mostly in north and south Carolinas.
Joseph Wiley was born in Botetourt County Virginia and died July
7, 1822 in Darke County Ohio.

William Graham-He received a memorial stone at the cemetery

Graham was a Soldier in the American Revolutionary War. He was a Private in the Virginia Militia. He enlisted in May 1779. Graham served three tours of duty totaling over a six-month period. His first tour took him to Fort Donnally, Frankford, WV in pursuit of Indians. In other tours, Graham guarded prisoners and protected the country at places such as Burnt Mills, Mecklenburg County N.C. and Williamsburg, VA.
Graham was born in Augusta County, Virginia around 1764 and died on June 21, 1841 in  Darke County Ohio.

In the Beers History, we read of Dr. William Graham, grandson of William, in Civil War and a physician in Arcanum per obit. In looking at “The Secret Town” by William Gunder, reference is made of lot owner from Graham, Wm B in 1894 12-1 to Thomas, O C Book 113 Page 566 records (Page 175 in book). There is notes of residing in New Paris and a native of Braffetsville. See obit Preble County records which mentions these facts and his places of services in Civil War. His father was Addison Steele Graham 1892-1868.
