Dale Baker, Dixie Baker Kepler’s grandfather, bottled his own milk and distributed it from the farm. ”My sister has two bottles with the Dale Baker Dairy name on them. Bill Baker’s grandfather Leonard Dewey Baker delivered milk for Dale with this milk wagon and horse. (attached is a picture of Leonard Dewey’s milk wagon that Bill sent me) In 1926 Dale purchased a ford milk wagon to deliver the milk. In 1929 Dale sold his dairy business to Alonzo Gray. On page 192 of the book “Arcanum, Ohio, Business History” by Anita Short, states that Mr. Gray realizing that it was much more practical to obtain milk from several area dairymen, on January 16, 1930 he held an auction selling 15 head of dairy cattle and other farming implements and moved the dairy to Arcanum. It sounds as if from Mr. Gray from that time forward just bottled and distributed the milk.”

Per Dixie Baker Kepler, she writes “Dale was my grandpa and he was born on a farm owned by his maternal grandfather on the corner of what is present day, Bears Mill & Delisle-Fourman Road, Sec 27 Van Buren Twp. That farm is no longer there as it has been sold off over the years in smaller lots. When he married my grandmother, Mary Emma Baker, they lived at 3931 Arcanum Bears Mill Rd., George Baker’s farm, where Dale had his Dairy business. Dale purchased the farm after George passed away.”
